Massage

According to the ABMP(Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals) Fact Sheet on Massage Therapy, “ABMP estimates 241,058 trained therapists provide massage and bodywork in the United States.”  This is a gigantic number and these numbers increase every year by approximately 60,000 to 70,000 therapists.

The staggering number of hours the average corporate employee must put in, the high cost of living, and inflation has caused stress levels in the country to sky rocket.  As a result more people are beginning to look for alternative ways to handle this compounding stress.  As stress occurs your body seizes up, which causes toxins to be stored in your muscles.  These stored toxins create huge “Knots” in large muscle groups in the body, which in turn slows blood flow to that area of your body.  Blood is the carrier of nutrients, vitamins, and hormones that are essential to living.  These knots then create symptoms that we have all experienced at one point or another.  Fatigue, Aches, Pains, Sleeplessness and Weight Gain are just a few of the common symptoms.

Massage is stated in the MedicineNet.com Dictionary as, “The manipulation of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function of those tissues and promote relaxation and well-being.”  The Massage Therapist, using specific techniques, releases and relaxes the muscles in your body allowing for blood flow to return to normal in those areas.  The blood then carries the toxins out of your muscles to be released out of the body permanently.
