Aromatheraphy

Have you ever been in a room when a distinct smell seems to hit your nose and all of a sudden you begin to completely relax, almost instantaneously?

Some estimates suggest we can distinguish around 10,000 different smells, but why we smell and the impact of smell on our everyday life is poorly understood.  However, there are suggestions that smell can influence mood, memory, emotions, mate choice, the immune system and the endocrine system (hormones). We can communicate by smell - without knowing it. In fact the sense of smell could be said to be at the mind-body interface.

An Essential Oil is a concentrated, hydrophobic liquid containing aromatic compounds from plants.  Essential oils can affect your mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. When inhaled, they work on the brain and nervous system through stimulation of the olfactory nerves.  Essential oils are used in all of our bodywork sessions to assist in the healing process.
